Carleton University's Office of the Vice-President (Research & International) and the Office of Innovation Transfer hosted a meeting February 22, 2008 to provide input and advice regarding Carleton’s strategic approach to research and programming in the area of Social Innovation and the steps needed to institute a comprehensive, integrated and forward-thinking approach.

[edit] Purpose

Carleton University wants to become the premier institution in the field of social innovation by establishing a distinctive and competitive research and project profile. This profile will be supported by five outcomes:

  1. Achieve high levels of activity in this area
  2. Create an environment that actively engages student participation
  3. Create and sustain a productive and active network of collaboration between researchers across faculties and scholars at other universities and/or institutions, domestically and internationally
  4. Establish strong partnerships and links outside of the academic community
  5. Procure external funding that reflects a multi-disciplinary and/or multi-institutional approach
