In this lecture, recent graduates from the TIM program in the MASc option will talk about their theses. Presenters:
  • Richard Alam, Open source projects, market offers and competitive advantage
  • Glen McInnis, Competitive actions of companies whose revenue relies on open source software
  • Kamal Hassin, Model to ensure clean intellectual property in software development projects
  • Nadia Noori, Managing external innovation: the case of platform extensions

The Technology Innovation Management (TIM) program is a unique Master's program for innovative engineers that focuses on creating wealth at the early stages of company or opportunity life cycles. It is a synthesis of management and engineering. The program is offered by Carleton University's Department of Systems and Computer Engineering. It provides benefits to aspiring entrepreneurs, engineers seeking more senior leadership roles in their companies, and engineers building credentials and expertise for their next career move.

[edit] About TIM Lecture Series

Objective
The TIM Lecture Series advances the knowledge and strengthens the relationships relevant to technology company executives, technical entrepreneurs, R&D personnel, providers of services to technology companies, academics, and students

Format
TIM Lectures have a unique format. The format is:

  1. Presenter delivers 1/3 or 1/2 of the lecture and then stops
  2. Audience produces take away messages real time
  3. Presenter answers questions
  4. Opinions that contradict what the presenter has stated are heard
  5. Break
  6. Repeat stages 1-4
  7. Initiatives are identified and contributors are invited to implement them
