Tony Bailetti holds a tenured faculty appointment in both the Department of Systems and Computer Engineering and the Eric Sprott School of Businessat Carleton University, located in Ottawa, Canada.


Professor Bailetti has been the Director of Carleton University's Technology Innovation Management Program from 1998 to 2005, from 2006 to 2007, and from 2008 to date.


Professor Bailetti is currently the Director of the Talent First Network. He was the Director of Carleton University’s School of Business from 1981 to 1988 and worked at Bell-Northern Research (today a part of Nortel) from 1988 to 1992. In 2002 he led and orchestrated the delivery of the Lead to Win Program, a professional development program that sought to help experienced technology executives establish and grow businesses. Half of the 29 graduates of the program created businesses that resulted in 300 jobs and $90 million of venture capital invested in Ottawa.


Professor Bailetti has published in engineering management journals such as IEEE Transactions on Engineering Management, Journal of Product Innovation Management, Research Policy, and R&D Management. He has supervised the completion of 53 research theses and 15 projects at the master's level.


Professor Bailetti has thirty three years experience as a faculty member, 30 years at Carleton University (1979-2009) and three years at the University of Manitoba (1976-1979). His research and teaching interests include: (i) innovation that leads to business growth; (ii) business ecosystems; and (iii)development and commercialization of products and services that rely on open source.


Professor Bailetti was born and raised in Peru. In 1970, he was awarded a Fulbright Scholarship to study in the United States. He received his M.B.A. and Ph.D. degrees from the University of Cincinnati in 1973 and 1976 respectively. He won an American Iron and Steel Institute Doctoral Fellowship in 1976. In 1996 he won a Carleton University Teaching Award. In 2007 he was awarded a Carleton University Breakthrough Leadership Award.


He is the father of Marco Antonio, Maria Katia, Sean Alexander, and Carlos Eduardo and the grandfather of Kalah, Maria Katia's daughter. They are the treasures at the centre of his life.
